Virgil Long’s hand-carved cottonwood “White Chin” Katsina doll is known as Tuma-uyi, an important bringer of rain. This sacred katsina is part of the enormous Katsinam of the Hopi Pueblo People believed to bring harmony in nature, beneficial rainfall, good crops, fertility and successful hunting.
