Virgil Long’s hand-carved cottonwood and bright acrylic painted Corn-Maiden katsina doll reminds us to honor Mother Earth and the abundant gifts we receive each day. Katsinas are powerful and immortal spirits to the Hopi Pueblo People. They are called tithu or katsintithu, sacred supernatural beings who function as messengers between the spiritual worlds. Katsina dolls are representations of these beings and are not sacred themselves. About 7″ tall, 2 1/2″ wide and 2″ deep. Signed by the artist.
