Some Pueblo cultures believe that bright magpies led them to water in the old days. Ultra-smart magpies are permanent residents of New Mexico captivating us with striking plumage and wonderfully raspy chatter. We’re enchanted with Joshua Qualo’s rendition of the distinguished corvid carved in antler to a size of roughly 5″ long, 1″ wide and 1″ tall. Quick-witted eyes are from turquoise inlays, while lovely red corals accent the head region. The flowing tail feathers resemble a single feather, while sweeping wings have deeply incised lines.
