Bowls like this are used in Zuni to hold sacred cornmeal to be used in ceremonies and blessings. Darla Westika made this one with a carrying handle. Hand built using the coil technique Darla used natural mineral pigments to paint Dragonfly and Zuni rainbird designs, both symbols of water.
