Wonderful owls are biocontrol agents through the hunting of agricultural pests. They are called the Night Grandfather by the A:Shiwi (The People) because they watch over sleeping ones. Building a social awareness against superstitions will help in protecting owls now and into the future. Master carver Hudson Sandy’s bold Picasso marble Owl is perched at approximately 1 5/8″ tall, 1 1/2″ wide and 5/8″ deep. A turquoise, coral, jet and mother-of-pearl Zuni Sunface is inlaid on the perch, while an offering necklace is meticulously set with turquoise and red coral. Piercing eyes are from jet in turquoise.
