Jatropha podagrica, also known as the Buddha belly plant or gout plant, is a succulent shrub native to Central America. It features a swollen, bottle-shaped base, giving it the nickname “Buddha belly.” This caudex stores water, allowing the plant to thrive in arid environments. The plant produces large, lobed leaves and clusters of bright red or coral-colored flowers. A very long lived plant.
Available in 2″ nursery pot. This is a starter plant. Minimal roots and leaves. May be shipped bareroot. Juvenile plants will require more watering until they develop a bigger caudex.
