One of the most renowned and controversial architects of the time was commissioned to design the new building in Ronchamp, an ancient place of Marian veneration: Le Corbusier. The client worked in the spirit of the journal L’Art Sacr, which discussed the connection between art, spirituality and liturgy in new categories.

Ronchamp is the result of an extraordinary dialogue in which concepts such as rationalism and expressionism, sacred and secular, played a key role. Through source and image documentation, this volume provides detailed insight into the genesis of the building, which, as a sacred vessel, resembles a sculpture, animated by a perfect mathematics that creates the ineffable space and illustrates the ideas that shaped it.
